Fireplace Mantels Have Been the Focal Point of Homes for Centuries

Prior to central heating, each main room in a home had a fireplace and usually a mantel. Fireplaces made of stone, brick and tile were quite often dressed with a wood mantel. Fireplace mantels are often found in foyers of hotels, business buildings and restaurants. There is something primeval about a fire in a fireplace, something that is medicine for our souls. When surrounded with a beautiful mantel, fireplaces add a pleasant richness. Found on mantel shelves in our homes are objects of art, photos, expression of the homeowners to themselves and their guests.

Mantels reflect the architectural styles used in the United States. In the early 20th century the Victorian designs were no longer in vogue and fireplace mantels were being made primarily of oak. They were mostly simple and practical. It is a sad fact that many of the early mantels were torn out as people remodeled their homes and many fine mantels were destroyed.

We love the fireplace with its comforting heat, delicious smoky aroma, and the unique architectural statement the mantel makes in a fine home. We build with our hands what we love.

Set The Tone

Mantels set the tone for a home. Most often, they are the focal point of the room and the feeling they set is carried throughout the home by both you and your guests.

We want to make sure it is a good feeling.

I have built for interior decorators, architects, contractors and home owners and now I hope
for you. My name is Jerry Heasley.
